Allegations Against Winona Judd’s Ex-Husband

Grace Kelly, the daughter of Winona Judd, has accused her stepfather of sexually assaulting her during her childhood, suggesting that her mother was involved in concealing the abuse.

Her stepfather, Dr. Roach, who was also Judd’s bodyguard and second husband, allegedly began abusing her when she was just ten years old. Kelly recounted that when she disclosed the abuse to her mother, the response was not to notify the authorities immediately but to arrange for counseling. “Then when they addressed what he did, they decided to report it,” Kelly stated.

Dr. Roach faced legal consequences in 2007 when he was arrested and later pled guilty to attempted sexual battery, although the situation later deteriorated according to the Tennessee sex offender registry.

In her narrative, Kelly described her family’s public image as very different from her actual upbringing. Although her mother and late grandmother, Naomi Judd, were celebrated figures in country music, Kelly described her childhood as quite difficult.

“The moment he got arrested and it hit the news, that was when my mother divorced him,” she reflected. Despite acknowledging her mother’s wealth, she expressed a sense of neglect: “I don’t want to speak poorly of my mom, but let’s just say she was a fantastic performer. She was never a mom,” Kelly said.

Her teenage years were particularly challenging; she mentioned being placed in 14 different institutions from ages 12 to 17. Struggling with addiction, she also faced multiple arrests before finding sobriety, attributing her recovery to her faith.

So far, Winona Judd has not publicly addressed her daughter’s allegations regarding the cover-up of the abuse.
