Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa is receiving intravenous antibiotics to combat an infection, his office said in a statement Tuesday.
“Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is receiving intravenous antibiotics at a local hospital to treat an infection. He is feeling well and plans to return to work as soon as possible as directed by his doctors.” said. statement read.
Last year, the lawmaker underwent hip surgery.
Mr. Grassley, 90, is currently the oldest person waiter He is a member of the United States Senate and has served in that position for over 40 years. He will be up for re-election in 2022 and will be 95 years old by the end of his current term.
California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, slightly older than Grassley, died last year at age 90.
