Gregg Popovich has a “serious medical issue” that required medical attention before the Spurs' game against the Timberwolves on Saturday night. According to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Charania added that there is “a great deal of concern about this situation” from those around Popovich and the Spurs.
Popovich, 75, has missed the Spurs' last two games and is expected to be out indefinitely.
“It's still unclear when he'll be back on the floor on the team's sideline,” Charania said on NBA Today.
he is resting at home, Per ESPN.
Spurs assistant Mitch Johnson will serve as San Antonio's interim head coach in Popwich's absence.
The team started with three wins and four losses.
“He's not feeling well,” Johnson said after Saturday's game. “This has happened before. I think everyone always has to be ready for the next guy. We've had injuries, sometimes we get sick, we don't feel well, something happens in our lives. Sometimes it happens. He just doesn't feel good.”
Johnson said Monday that Popovich said he was “fine” on Sunday.
“Obviously, the situation is unique,” Johnson said. “But I think as much continuity and familiarity as we can get is what we're looking for. We know that's what Pop wants. He told us I asked him to do it. We talked about it, but nothing changes.”
Popovich won five NBA titles with San Antonio and was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2003, 2012 and 2014.

He is the winningest coach in NBA history with 1,390 wins in the regular season and 170 wins in the postseason.
Popovich, in his 29th season as the Spurs' head coach, is the longest-serving head coach in American professional sports.
