Greene says base furious with Congress, not Trump

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) expressed on Monday that President Trump’s supporters are frustrated with Congress, but not with Trump himself.

Last week, Greene shared on Social Platform X that the base is dissatisfied, pointing to issues like a deal on Ukrainian minerals and discussions regarding Iran, among other topics.

“I represent the base, and when I’m irritated and upset about the direction things are going, it’s clear the base isn’t happy,” Greene stated in her post on X.

“When you’re losing MTG, you’re losing your base, and Trump isn’t voting in the future,” she noted in her message.

In an interview with NewsNation’s Blake Burman, she addressed comments made on Friday about the situation.

“Well, actually, the base is excited about President Trump,” Greene remarked. “Border security has never been better, the economy is improving, inflation is decreasing, gas prices are falling, and job opportunities are increasing.”

“But Congress is the issue; the base is furious, and I don’t think they’ve gotten the message from the November 2024 election, which concerns me,” she added.

Greene has consistently been one of Trump’s most vocal advocates during her time in Congress. Earlier this year, she proposed a bill to rename the Gulf of Mexico to “American Gulf,” echoing Trump’s idea for the change.

“The American people are pushing for legislation to protect and secure marine waterways for commercial activities. Our military safeguards the region from foreign threats,” Greene had previously mentioned on X.

“It’s our bay. The rightful name is the American Gulf, and that’s how the whole world should refer to it.”
