Greg Laurie Shares Recovery Update After Hip Surgery
Greg Lowry, pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, has announced that his recent hip surgery was “100% successful.” He mentioned he is now “healing up” and “walking.” This news was shared on social media by Laurie, who is also known for founding Harvest Crusade, along with a video detailing his experience.
In the video, he reflected on his recovery, expressing gratitude for the many prayers he received during his healing process. “I want you to know those prayers were answered,” he said. “The surgery was a complete success. God is good!”
Laurie noted that this surgery was his first in 72 years. He mentioned the widespread conversation around prayer, stating, “It seems like some are questioning the power of prayer, especially after the recent tragic events at the Announcement Catholic School.” He remains hopeful about his full recovery, attributing it to divine blessings.
He had the surgery on August 19. “I’ve been in pain for quite some time, and honestly, I had been putting it off,” Laurie shared. “But now I’m recovering, walking without a cane, and I truly appreciate all the prayers from everyone.” Previously, he joked about having fun with his cane while dealing with pain affecting his right leg.
After his surgery, he communicated with his followers about how things were going. He illustrated the support he received from the community by mentioning how, from his hospital admission, he felt encouraged by the prayers from believers, nurses, and even doctors. “My anesthesiologist was also a Christian,” he noted. “What a blessing!”
On August 24, Laurie updated fans that his recovery was progressing well, crediting “God’s healing touch and your prayers” for his condition. However, he decided that a close friend, Pastor James Merritt, would preach in his place as he didn’t feel ready to return to the pulpit yet.
By August 30, he shared he was “doing really well” post-surgery and felt thankful to God, perhaps even earlier than he expected.
