Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s book is set to hit store shelves on July 9, at the same time that prominent media outlets such as The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Economist are calling on President Biden to drop out of the race.
Earlier this year, we exclusively reported that Whitmer, a presumed candidate to succeed Biden, had signed a seven-figure book deal with Simon & Schuster.
With the book “Real Gretsch: What I’ve Learned About Life, Leadership, and Everything in Between” soon to be released, a source told Page Six, “It looks like her book deal gamble paid off.”
The source added: “Her team and publishers will be doing everything they can over the next two weeks to put Gretchen Whitmer on the map, starting with her book.”
The source added, “The book is based almost entirely on the assumption that Biden will collapse in the debate and have to be replaced in July.”
But so far, Whitmer, who is a co-chair of the Biden 2024 campaign, has endorsed the president.

Besides Governor Whitmer, others being mentioned as possible candidates to replace Biden include Vice President Kamala Harris, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
