Grassroots groups are urging Americans to refrain from spending money on Fridays in a roughly organized boycott of the current economic and political landscape.
The “blackout” protest comes amid a surge in stubborn inflation that has raised prices for grocery and other everyday items. The accusation group is heading the People's Union USA, which is not affiliated with any political party, and hopes that customers will avoid purchasing from major businesses and use credit or debit cards for a 24-hour period.

People's Union USA says the goal is to unite Americans against what they consider corporate desires to contribute to high costs.

A recent poll from Navigator Research shows that three in five Americans cite corporate greed as the “major cause” of rising costs.
