'Grow up': Vance, Khanna spar over rehiring DOGE staffer

Vice President Vance and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) have spoken out about the proposal to rehire government efficiency (DOGE) staff who resigned after racist social media posts revealed. It was sparred in.

Marko Elez, a 25-year-old Doge aide, had “read-only” access to the sensitive Treasury payment system. He resigned Thursday, White House officials told Hill after the Wall Street Journal first discovered his previous posts in favor of racist beliefs.

“Normalizes India's hatred,” one account related to the aide said. According to In the journal.

“You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” the account said on X, the paper reported.

Vance said Friday that the 25-year-old should be rehired.

“Here's my view: I clearly disagree with Erez's posts, but I don't think stupid social media activities should ruin a child's life,” Vance said on X on Friday. Ta. If Erez should come back after making an “inappropriate statement.”

“We should not reward journalists who try to destroy people. Until now. So I say I'll bring him back,” Vance wrote. “If he's a bad guy or a terrible member of the team, fire him for that.”

Kanna, who is Indian, answered Vance's post and asked if she would ask the Vice President to apologize for the racist post.

“Are you going to tell him to apologize before this rehiring by saying, “I will normalize India's hatred”? We just want it for both of our kids,” Kanna said. I said Friday at X

Vance was the first Indian-American to be second lady with his wife Usha Vance and he said, “For both of our children? Grow up.”

“The racists on the internet, although offensive, do not threaten my children. Do you know what you're doing? A culture that denis grace for people who make mistakes.” Vance I wrote it. “A culture that encourages lawmakers to act like a whimsical child.”

The vice president, who has three young children, said he dislikes Kanna's post, which he called “emotional horror mail.”

“I don't worry about my kids making mistakes or developing opinions that I regret later. I'm not too worried about trolls on the internet. You're worried about me. You know, RO? They'll grow up to become US lawmakers engaged in emotionally horrifying mail over children's social media posts,” Vance Added In reply. “You hate me.”

Kanna, who represents California's 17th Congressional District, responded to Vance and said that she didn't need “ulthumiliation” to freely share her perspectives and ideas.

“It might be your way of saying “campaign” and showing strength by saying “You hate me”” Kanna I wrote it. “Personally, I think you have to be mean to cast shaming or have free exchange ideas. Our country is the best (Lincoln/ Douglas) wasn't, nor was your best JD either.”

Erez is one of the Doge staff approved by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to have access to a system led by the Department of Finance. President Trump on Friday said he supported Erez's rehiring and Musk said he would return him to work for Doge.
