Guardians trading Andrés Giménez to Blue Jays in surprising swap

Andres Jimenez is heading north of the border.

The second baseman will be traded from the Guardians to the Blue Jays in an exchange Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

The full deal includes Jimenez and reliever Nick Sandlin going to the Blue Jays in exchange for infielder Spencer Horwitz and minor league outfielder Nick Mitchell. Sportsnet reported.

Jimenez, a former Met, is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner and has spent the past four seasons with Cleveland.

He joined Cleveland in 2021 as part of the Mets' blockbuster trade for Francisco Lindor and had a breakout year in 2022, batting .297 with 17 home runs and 69 RBIs, earning him an AL All-Star title. Although he was selected, his offensive power declined after the 2018 season. next two seasons.
