Cuomo Criticized for Responses on Illegal Immigration
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly Show, Emily Jashinsky offered a pointed critique of Chris Cuomo from News Nation. She highlighted Cuomo’s remarks regarding the challenges of illegal immigration in the U.S., describing them as “crazy,” especially in light of his comments about Laken Riley’s case and the broader illegal immigration issue.
Even though a significant number of Americans are in favor of deporting illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds, Cuomo, in a discussion on Thursday, referenced Riley and the ongoing political dialogue surrounding illegal immigration as reasons to stick to his views on the two main political parties. Jashinsky further pointed out the disturbing numbers of individuals with criminal records who have entered the country under the Biden administration.
“It’s undeniably real, and frankly a mess,” she noted. “When you examine the number of people crossing our borders, it’s not just those who have illegally returned—many have serious criminal histories.” She emphasized the potential dangers posed by individuals with violent crime backgrounds entering the U.S., expressing her concerns about the larger issue at hand.
Jashinsky stressed that “open borders” are being exploited by individuals with harmful intentions, adding, “It’s absolutely absurd to claim these are isolated incidents; the figures really paint a different picture.”
Reflecting on President Donald Trump’s initial days in office, an announcement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed that 66,463 illegal immigrants were arrested, with many being deemed threats to public safety and national security. ICE data indicated a significant portion of these arrests involved individuals with records ranging from DUI to violent offenses.
A recent survey by the Pew Research Center indicated overwhelming support for deporting illegal immigrants who are guilty of violent crimes, with 97% of 5,123 respondents in agreement.
Before Jashinsky’s comments, Megyn Kelly had already taken aim at Cuomo. “He’s attempting to portray himself as a rational alternative, but he’s really not changed,” Kelly argued, noting Cuomo’s attempts to appeal to a more conservative audience amidst his previous controversies involving women.
Kelly discussed Riley’s tragic murder at the hands of an illegal immigrant, underscoring the urgency of recognizing these problems instead of downplaying them. “It’s frustrating to watch this all unfold,” she remarked, expressing her weariness with what she described as Cuomo’s misguided narratives.
