Carly Fortune’s Novel Adaptation Arrives on Prime Video

Actors Sadie Soveol and Matt Cornett take on the roles of Persephone “Percy” Fraser and Sam Florek in a show that chronicles their relationship through several summers in Barry’s Bay.
every year thereafter debuts today on Prime Video, following a success streak for the platform with adaptations like “Obsession” and Jenny Han’s A Beautiful Summer, which became hugely popular.

Sadie Soveol as Persephone “Percy” Fraser
Percy Fraser, portrayed by Sadie Soveol, is an aspiring horror writer who works as an obituary writer. Her childhood summers in Barry’s Bay led her to the Florek family, especially Sam, with whom she shares a deep connection and possibly more.
Soveol gained recognition for her role in the 2023 film Salt Burn and her previous work in Fate: Winx Saga alongside Abigail Cowen.
Matt Cornett as Sam Florek
Sam Florek, played by Matt Cornett, is a cardiologist dealing with his mother’s passing. His distance from his brother Charlie has only grown, compounded by his duty while their mother was ill. Percy’s unexpected visit arrives at a tense and emotional time.
Cornett has previously been seen as E.J. in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and in the 2025 film Summer of 69.
Michael Bradway as Charlie Florek
Michael Bradway takes on the role of Charlie Florek, who works hard and plays harder. He’s a bit of a problem-solver but seems to struggle in the realm of personal relationships. Despite that, he invites Percy to their mother’s funeral.
Fans might remember him from Chicago Fire, where he played Jack Damon.
Aurora Perrineau as Chantal
Chantal, played by Aurora Perrineau, serves as Percy’s best friend. A busy Seattle lawyer, she joins Percy for the funeral as she navigates her own wedding plans and learns to unwind in the process.
Perrineau has notable roles in series like Pretty Little Liars and Prodigal Son.
Abigail Cowen as Delilah
Delilah reunites with Percy during her return to Barry’s Bay. Their friendship went cold, and now they try to piece together what went wrong while tackling their own issues.
Cowen has appeared in popular shows such as Stranger Things and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Joseph Chiu as Geordie
Joseph Chiu plays Geordie, Sam’s best friend and the motel manager in Barry’s Bay. Having a history as a basketball star, he provides a balancing presence amidst the unfolding drama.
Chiu’s recent roles include appearances in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and Fear Street: Prom Queen.
Elisha Cuthbert as Sue Florek
Sue Florek, portrayed by Elisha Cuthbert, is the mother of Sam and Charlie. Her legacy, particularly her renowned pierogi, lives on even after her passing.
Cuthbert’s past works span various genres, including notable roles in 24 and The Girl Next Door.
