Gummy vitamins recalled over health issues

A range of B12 gummy vitamin products has been recalled due to undeclared peanut allergens.

The FDA shared an announcement from Vita Warehouse Corp. on Friday, the company responsible for products sold under the Welby, Berkley Jensen, and Vitaglobe brands.

Based in New York, Vita Warehouse has confirmed a voluntary recall of several items: Welby-Brand B12 Energy Support Gummy Product (1000 MCG, 140 Gummies), Berkley Jensen Vitamin B12 (1000 MCG, 250 Gummies), and Vitaglobe Extra Strength B12 (60 Gummies), among others.

Vita Warehouse indicated that peanuts could cause serious allergic reactions for individuals who are allergic or highly sensitive. “There’s a potential risk here,” the company noted.

The affected products were distributed to Aldi and BJ retailers across the country, as well as online at Aldi.us, bjs.com, Vitaglobe.com, and Amazon.

As of June 12, no illnesses or allergic reactions linked to these products have been reported.

A detailed description of the recalled items, which includes lot numbers and expiration dates, has been provided.

The recall initiated after ALDI’s routine testing found some discrepancies in allergen-related claims. “One specific test indicated possible peanut allergens,” the company stated.

Even though internal testing confirmed the product is peanut-free, they are proceeding with the recall out of an abundance of caution to maintain consumer safety and trust.

Vita Warehouse confirmed that no other Welby, Berkley Jensen, or Vitaglobe products are affected.

If you have purchased these products and are allergic to peanuts, you should check the lot numbers and expiration dates before returning them for a full refund or disposing of them immediately.

The announcement advised anyone who experiences an allergic reaction to seek medical attention promptly.

“We prioritize health and safety for our consumers and are fully cooperating with the FDA during this process,” Vita Warehouse shared.
