Shooting at Children’s Birthday Party in Massachusetts
Over the weekend, a tragic shooting occurred during a children’s birthday party in Massachusetts, resulting in the deaths of a rapper and another man, along with serious injuries to two others, according to the police.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Crews reported that 27-year-old Benjamin Cowart was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Club in Carver. Jalen Pina, a 20-year-old local rap artist, succumbed to his injuries in a nearby hospital.
A 28-year-old man was airlifted to a Boston hospital, while a 32-year-old victim received treatment at a local facility. As of Saturday night, both were reported to be in critical condition.
The alleged shooter, identified as 23-year-old Nicolas Meuse, was apprehended shortly after fleeing the chaotic scene. According to Meuse, he believed the shooting was targeted and that he knew the deceased victims, although it remained uncertain if they were indeed the intended targets.
Authorities have stated there is “no continuing threat” to the public, as asserted by Mr. Cruz.
Pina, who performed under the stage name “Buku Tensai,” recently participated in a small concert in Boston just a day before the incident, according to a family friend’s GoFundMe page.
Organizers described Jalen as having a “beautiful soul” with a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room. Meanwhile, police are still investigating, noting that the exact number of shots fired and the presence of children at the party are yet to be determined.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy from late November, when a shooting at a girl’s second birthday party in California left three children and a teenager dead, although the intended target escaped unharmed.
