Toronto Shooting at Latin Festival
Toronto police are currently investigating a shooting incident that left at least two individuals dead and four others injured during a large Latin street festival in midtown Toronto on Saturday evening.
The authorities received reports of gunfire at St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue around 8:12 p.m. local time, leading them to discover an ongoing shooting situation.
Upon arrival, initial responders found six victims with gunshot wounds; unfortunately, two were pronounced dead at the scene.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and law enforcement officials stated that the suspect’s identity is still “unsolved.”
Following the incident, the Toronto Transit Commission temporarily halted train services at the nearby St. Clair West station, citing a “public safety incident.” Services have since resumed regularly.
Officials are advising the public to steer clear of the area and adhere to instructions from the police present at the scene.
This incident took place during the TD Salsa on St. Clair Festival, which is recognized as Toronto’s largest celebration of Latin culture, marking its 22nd year in Hillcrest Village.
