Authorities in Texas reported that they discharged firearms while attempting to disperse a gathering of nearly 800 teenagers and young adults at an Airbnb located north of Dallas.
The homeowner, Kishore Kallapudi, informed KDFW that the property was booked under the pretense of hosting a party for just seven individuals. However, upon returning, he was taken aback by the extensive damages. “We were completely shocked,” he remarked. “They took all the furniture from the living area and crammed it into the garage. They even removed wall fixtures and broke a lot of things. The island and the granite countertops were damaged too, likely because they were dancing on them.”
Celina Police Chief John Callison explained that as soon as the shots rang out, 911 calls flooded in. One caller reported that a group of ten armed individuals at the front gate were making threats. “That certainly put our officers on high alert,” Callison shared. “It wasn’t until we got inside that the scale of the gathering truly hit us.”
The police received a call on Saturday about a large party at a residence on Choate Parkway. “The number of attendees exploded due to social media, drawing between 500 and 800 young people to the scene,” Callison added. “We acted quickly, conducting aggressive operations to ensure everyone’s safety. One arrest was made for underage DUI, and another individual was taken into custody on an active aggravated assault warrant.”
Callison mentioned that after engagement with the crowd, as it began to thin out, multiple gunshots were fired nearby. Police entered the venue for a thorough search, not finding anyone with gunshot wounds, despite the chaotic nature of the situation. However, they did discover bloodstains on sheets and towels inside the residence.
Additionally, police released dashcam footage showing officers racing toward the location as party attendees fled the scene.
