Cleveland Bar Shooting Injures Five
Five individuals were injured, including a suspect, in a shooting that occurred outside a bar in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday evening, according to officials.
The incident took place around 6:15 PM in the 1000 block of West 10th Avenue, near the Waterfront area. Initial investigations by the Cleveland Police Department indicate that the gunfire resulted from a dispute that escalated at a nearby bar.
“Preliminary findings suggest that an argument in a nearby bar spilled outside, resulting in the shootings,” said a spokesperson from the Cleveland Police Department.
Officials reported receiving the shooting notification shortly after Cleveland firefighters had already been dispatched to the area due to crowding at various bars. Interestingly, the firefighters also reported hearing the shots being fired.
Upon arriving, police provided assistance to five victims, including one who is believed to be the shooter.
The Cleveland Emergency Medical Services transported the five injured individuals to the hospital, but their identities were not disclosed immediately.
As of Sunday night, police had not made any arrests, but they confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that additional information would be released as it becomes available.
This event comes on the heels of another recent incident in July, where three police officers were hospitalized, and one was killed in a shooting at an industrial site in Lorraine, Ohio. A confrontation occurred during an active patrol in the area, leading to a firefight.
As of now, the Cleveland Fire Department has not responded to requests for comment regarding this shooting.
