The shooter responsible for a tragic incident in Manhattan left a note mentioning former NFL player Terry Long.

On Monday evening, Shane Tamra, 27, took the lives of an NYPD officer and three others when she entered a Midtown skyscraper that houses the Football League headquarters.

Following the attack, police found a disjointed note where Tamra referenced Long, claiming he suffered from CTE, a condition linked to brain injuries from repeated head trauma.

“Terry Long’s football gave me CTE, which gave me a gallon of antifreeze,” read one part of the note.

Another troubling sentence stated, “You can’t oppose the NFL, they’ll crush you.”

  • Tamra was captured on surveillance driving a black BMW, seen carrying an M4 rifle.
  • Upon entering the building, she turned right and shot police officer Didalur Islam, 36.
  • In the lobby, Tamra shot a woman hiding behind a pillar and continued firing as she moved toward the elevators.
  • Another man was reported injured and critically wounded in the lobby.
  • As the gunfire echoed, a woman exited the elevator unharmed and headed to the 33rd floor, where the building’s owner Rudin Property’s office is located.
  • There, a man was fatally shot.
  • Tamra eventually shot herself in the chest, bringing her rampage to an end.
  • The exact duration of the chaos is unclear, but by 7:52 pm, authorities had confirmed the scene was under control and the shooter was neutralized.

In her note, Tamra urged, “Study the brain for CTE. Sorry. The league intentionally hid the dangers in the brain to maximize profits. They made us fail.”

Long, who played as an offensive lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the late ’80s, had been diagnosed with CTE after taking his life in 2005.
