Gunman who allegedly fatally shot beloved NYC bodega-owner, grandma turns himself in: sources

The reckless Hoodlam, who allegedly fired his beloved Harlem Fixture Exenia “Mamasie” Mette in a tragic nuisance shooting, surrendered to the authorities, the Post learned.

The 23-year-old Bronx man was in custody after he left himself at Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday morning.

He will face criminal possession of murder and weapons charges, sources said.

Sources believe that police accidentally shot Mette after accidentally swapping the bullet for Lennox Avenue near Darious Smith, 23, on April 22, according to a source.

The kind Mette was rushing outside to check on her grandson after hearing the shooting, the neighbor said. She got caught up in a crossfire and had a bullet in her head, and a disastrous video show.

Smith, who was arrested nearby with a bullet wound in the leg, faces an attempted murder.

Food to Plez Deli, former Mette business, Momma Zee’s food was the city’s first black woman-owned bodega when it opened in the 1980s.

Mourners, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, marched in tribute to Mette, whom he remembered as “Mayor of Harlem” on Saturday.

Surveillance video obtained in the post shows the moment when Exenia Mette was caught up in a gang crossfire and was shot and killed on Tuesday.
The front page of the New York Post shows the murder of Mette by a stray bullet.

“My grandmother should be here,” said her grieving grandson, Yarian Jordan Jr., 24. “We must stop pointless gun violence.”
