A mother from St. Louis reportedly fired a gun inside a suburban Missouri sushi restaurant and threw a bowl of soup after getting upset over ordering issues. This incident unfolded when Aaliyah N. Moorhead, 31, was dining at a Kirkwood restaurant with her 9-year-old child and another adult.
According to police, tensions escalated over problems with their order at Wasabi Sushi Bar. When the staff offered to fix the situation, Moorhead began shouting profanities and was asked to leave.
In a fit of rage, she allegedly threw a bowl of soup at a server and then attacked him and others in the establishment. The server attempted to shield himself with a chair, but she managed to grab it and throw him, creating quite a scene.
Things took a dangerous turn when Moorhead pulled out a 9mm Glock, telling an employee, “I’m sure you’ll get it,” before firing a shot around 8:30 p.m., as reported. Strangely enough, her daughter was standing between her and the server at that moment.
The bullet missed the server, went through a refrigerator, and struck a wall, fortunately leaving no injuries, according to police.
Moorhead later explained to the police that she thought staff had been disrespectful to her family and claimed she overheard derogatory remarks about them in Spanish through translation software.
Authorities said the restaurant owner informed them that Moorhead and her family left in a white SUV, which was located shortly after, leading to their apprehension. Security footage helped identify Moorhead, her child, and the other adult.
The St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Moorhead with multiple offenses, including first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Currently, she is being held on a $150,000 cash bond at the St. Louis County Justice Center, though details about her next court appearance remain unclear.
