Gwyneth Paltrow’s Thoughts on Brad Pitt
A recent biography reveals that Gwyneth Paltrow considered Brad Pitt to be more “smart, educated, and refined” than herself. The book, titled “Gwyneth: Biography,” authored by Amy Odell, includes insights into the early days of their relationship, highlighting Paltrow’s worries about their dynamic.
The two first crossed paths in 1993 during auditions for “Legends of the Fall.” Though Paltrow didn’t land the part, Pitt later suggested her for a role in “Se7en.” At the same time, Paltrow was also up for a role in “The Sense of Minnesota,” featuring Keanu Reeves.
Paltrow sought advice from a friend about whether to date Pitt or Reeves, ultimately choosing Pitt. They began dating and got engaged in 1996, spending about two years together. Paltrow’s father, Bruce Paltrow, and friends thought highly of Pitt, often describing him as a genuinely nice person.
However, signs of doubt surfaced early in their relationship. According to Odell, while filming “Emma” in 1996, Paltrow expressed her uncertainties, revealing that she had feelings for Hugh Grant at that time.
Describing their backgrounds, Paltrow noted that Pitt came from a religious upbringing in Missouri, which felt very different from her own Manhattan upbringing. She felt that he might not be refined enough for her and believed she was perhaps “smarter and more educated.”
In another interview, she mentioned the contrasts in their backgrounds and experiences, saying, “When we go to a restaurant and order caviar, I have to say to Brad, ‘This is Beluga, this is Osetra.’” Ultimately, the couple decided to part ways in 1997, and neither Paltrow nor Pitt’s representatives have commented on the biography’s claims.
