It took a little while on Friday, but the first major championship of the year on the LPGA Tour finally finished its first round. Haeran Ryu and Yan Liu are tied to the lead after one in the Chevron Championship.
Friday promises to be busier and full of more activity thanks to the delayed weather on Thursday, but there is what’s going on for reasons that keeps things moving.
Consider that of her 65 scores in the first round, only 24 were putts. That’s unrealistic.

Haeran Ryu played Spider ZT Proto this week and went straight to work.

Ryu’s 65 was the lowest round of the season and it wasn’t hard to believe given how crazy it was. As the putter progresses, it can lead to some low scores, and she certainly has a decent advantage.
Harlan spoke to the putter changes following her round, pointing out how practice played a major role in her success.
“After playing the game, we only had a week off, a week off, so we had a lot of putter practice, but I don’t know if I’d trust the putter from JM Eagle.
The results suggest that the change was the right decision!
