It’s hard to believe, but the competition between summer and autumn has already kicked off, and honestly, the disdain for this early transition is running high. I really noticed it last July. I mean, I was at the grocery store near the beach, and it just felt off. Summer? They’re cashing in on summer vacation in July; what’s going on? Our senior team on content development has even started getting reports about Halloween decorations already popping up.
This weekend, my wife experienced something similar. While her parents were out and it was sweltering in the 90s, she came back home with a Halloween-themed bag. It threw me off for a second, but I guess there’s still some good to be found.
Enter golf influencer Hayley Ostrom. I think she really gets the vibe—she was out by Lake Powell on Sunday, and then again for some summer fun on Monday, still enjoying the lake atmosphere.
This past weekend, she sent out a different message on Twitter than what she shared on Instagram. It was pretty straightforward: “I’m here to remind you that it’s summer.” What a vibe! She’s out there wearing a bikini and soaking up the water on a boat, and also doing away with any early fall items, which I think, is pretty clever.
Ostrom takes a stand against the encroaching autumn by doing things like smashing golf balls off the moon while keeping respectful of summer. I mean, sure, fall has its perks—football season is on the horizon. But let’s stash those Halloween decorations until it’s time, okay?
So, in this little battle between the seasons, it seems like the best way to fight off the fall invasion is simply to avoid buying into those early autumn items and maybe even gently calling out those who do. Kudos to Haley Ostrom for keeping summer alive—we really don’t have that many warm days to savor in our lives.
