Haley Van Lis and Angel Reese are scheduled to reunite in the military this summer in court.
The Chicago skies guaranteed it would happen on Monday night, when they chose 11th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Shortly after Van Lis heard her name be called, Reese expressed her excitement on social media.
“We haven’t done it right for the first time,” Reese wrote on her previous Twitter, X. “Let’s do backkkkk.”
The emotions were mutual.
“I’m excited to be around her again,” Van Liss said.
Van Lis played with Lease at LSU for the 2023-24 season, losing to UCLA in the Elite 8. After that season, Reese was drafted to No. 7 overall, and Van Liss transferred to TCU.
Last year, the two remained in contact with each other, and Van Lis said they have “mutual respect” for each other as women and players.
“We have a lot of similarities about how we carry ourselves and our thinking,” Van Liss said. “She’s a dog. She’s getting her strength up with everyone around her, so I’m excited to be in that environment again with her.
Van Lis was the second of the back-to-back picks that the sky had in Monday’s draft. Chicago chose Slovenian forward Ajisha Shivka with the 10th pick.
