Rep. Baker (R-Missouri) posted the tragic news on social media, explaining that a gang attacked his stepson, Davey, 24, and his daughter, Natalie, 21, on Thursday night.

A 20-year-old Haitian man named Jude Monteith was also killed in the violent attack.

“I feel lost for words right now… Our hearts are breaking. This is the most painful thing we’ve ever experienced. We are grieving, but we want Davey and Natalie’s story to be told because it deserves to be told. Theirs was a perfect example of a life spent putting others before yourself. A life of loving people so deeply that you would give your life for them, even if some were filled with hate. This level of selflessness is not often seen, especially in young people their age. They loved Haiti. It was in their hearts. When Natalie first visited, she came back and said, ‘I fell in love with Haiti!’ That love and dedication and determination characterized them and what they did. Their sacrificial lives will live on for generations to come. We need strength. And please pray for the Lloyd family too.”

Haiti fell further into anarchy following attacks in February when militants seized police stations and the airport in the capital, Port-au-Prince.

A caring couple, Mission in Haitiwas founded by David’s parents.

The mission said on social media that the couple were ambushed by three trucks carrying gun-wielding gang members after leaving the church. It said “Davey” and his wife were taken to a strange home, restrained and assaulted while the men stole their truck and all their belongings.

The charity went on to explain that after one gang left the area, another gang showed up and one of their members was shot dead, causing everyone to go into “all-out attack mode”.

“They are barricaded. The gangs have shot out all the windows in the house and are still shooting. Their lives are in danger. I have asked everyone I know to send police armored cars to try to get them to safety but no one has done it. We are also negotiating with the gangs about how much they should pay to get them to safety,” said the head of a Haitian charity.

Sadly, the group released a statement a few hours later revealing that the couple had been shot dead by a gang and that they were all heartbroken.

On the other hand, former 45Number President Donald Trump commented on the news, offering his condolences to Baker.

“God bless Davie and Natalie. Truly a tragedy. Haiti is completely out of control. Find the killers now!!!”
