Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley criticized former President Trump's cognitive abilities ahead of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary.
Haley said in one article: interview Speaking with CNN anchor Dana Bash in Manchester, New Hampshire on Tuesday, she said she thinks Trump is qualified to be president, but the country needs a president who is ready to “fully focus” on the job. He said that he is doing so. She said neither President Trump nor President Biden can do that.
“I mean, look, we've seen him messed up,” she said, referring to Trump. “He was perplexed that I had something to do with keeping the Guard away from the Capitol. Obviously, he was talking about someone else.”
The former U.N. ambassador was referring to remarks made by President Trump at a rally in New Hampshire on Friday that seemed to confuse Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
Haley also noted that President Trump said he would do so if Biden is re-elected in September. lead The country entered World War II, not World War III.
She argues that both Biden and Trump are too old to serve and the country needs a new generation of leaders. She told Bash that they were both about 80 years old and that scientifically they would experience some degree of cognitive decline by that age.
Haley said Trump's problem is more that he doesn't have a clear vision of where he wants to take the country.
“You've heard about who he's going to fight in the past and what kind of revenge he's going to take, but there was nothing about his vision for the future,” she said.
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, a Republican who supported Ms. Haley and met with Ms. Bash, said Mr. Trump is not “the same man” he was when he first ran for president in 2016.
“People want something different. That's why everyone is coming out,” he said. “They believe in the Republican Party of the future, not just litigating the mess of the past.”
