Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said Sunday that President Biden and former President Trump are “equally bad” for the country.
In an interview with CNN's Dana Bash, Haley accused the two presidential front-runners of focusing too much on the past and not talking about “future solutions.” There's “no drama” and “no revenge,” she said, as she looks to score her surprise victory in New Hampshire this week.
When asked further if Biden and Trump were “equally bad,” she told Bash that they were, attacking both of them because of their age.
“I mean, if they were, if one of them were better, I wouldn't be running. Yes, they're just as bad. That's why I'm running because I think we need Biden or Trump. “I don't think we need two 80-year-olds sitting in the White House when we have to make sure we can handle the war situation we're in,” she said. said.
“We need to know that they are at the top of their game. We need to know that they will protect our national security and our economy. “I don't know if they feel that way about it either. That's why we're giving them a choice,” she added.
Biden and Trump are the front-runners of their respective parties in next November's election, and a rematch between the two is likely in 2020. Biden, 81, is frequently criticized for his age, but Haley continues to call for a “new generation of leadership” in the Republican Party.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Sunday that he was withdrawing from the Republican primary, leaving Haley as the only primary challenger to Trump in the Republican race. She currently trails President Trump by about 11 points in New Hampshire, according to Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters polling averages.
