Hall of Famer Steve Young weighs in on Aaron Rodgers’ NFL future as possible divorce with Jets looms

Aaron Rodgers' time in the Jets uniform in New York could soon be over. Jet will not “move forward” with four NFL MVP quarterbacks. Reported by Fox Sports Earlier this week.

A report on Rodgers' future surfaced shortly after the Jets brought in Aaron Glenn as the team's next head coach and nominated Darren Moosie as general manager. The divorce between Rodgers and the Jets could be a sign that Gang Green wants to go in the offseason on a clean slate.

If Rodgers' stint in New York officially reaches the endpoint at the start of the new NFL league year in March, he will leave the Jets with 18 starts over two seasons. Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury in the first week of the 2023 campaign.

Rodgers threw 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions in 17 games in 2024. Rodgers is much closer to the end of his career than he was the beginning, but he had a moment he played well in this past season.

However, it remains unlikely that Rodgers will regain his MVP caliber shape. However, with some NFL teams desperately needing a capable quarterback play next season, Rodgers could be interested if he reached the free agent market.

The Jets parted ways with head coach Robert Saleja in October, finishing with a 5-12 record.
