Hallmark Star Crystal Lowe Reveals Stage 3 Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Crystal Lowe, known for her roles on Hallmark, recently shared the news that she has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

In an essay published by People, the 44-year-old actress described her journey as “scary, strange, and humbling.” She had first noticed a significant lump in her right breast back in February. However, initial tests like a mammogram and ultrasound didn’t show anything alarming. It wasn’t until a few months later, when the mass had grown to 10 centimeters and her nipples became inverted, that she underwent a biopsy.

“Three days later, my GP called to inform me about the invasive cancer found in one of my breast ducts,” she reflected. “I can still picture myself hanging up, curling into a ball, and just screaming.”

Lowe initially thought she was dealing with stage 2 cancer, but by August, the diagnosis shifted to stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer that starts in the milk ducts and can spread to adjacent tissues.

“I’m considering all options: chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation therapy, and possibly implants… It’s overwhelming, especially since I’ve never faced a serious health issue before,” she wrote.

The mother of two expressed gratitude for the support from her colleagues at Hallmark during this challenging time.

“Hollywood often gets a bad reputation, but when you work with people who genuinely care, it makes all the difference,” she said.

She gave a shout-out to her co-stars, noting that Alison Sweeney and Craig Baumgarten have adjusted their schedules so they can step in for directing once her treatment is completed. “Jeff Schenck from Hybrid Entertainment even bought me a wig and offered transportation to my appointments,” she added. “I’ve never appreciated being part of a family that truly embodies its values more.”

Lowe is determined to fight her illness. “This experience has drained me in ways I never anticipated—physically, emotionally, and mentally,” she confessed. “But I promise to push through. Turning poison into medicine… that’s what I’m learning every day.”
