Hamas violence finds a troubling new presence in America

On Sunday, a bombing targeting peaceful crowds in Boulder, Colorado, highlighted the troubling presence of Hamas-inspired hatred in the United States.

Senior groups were reportedly vigilant through the night, keeping watch over Israeli hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza. Those arrested, including Molotov and Mohamed Sabri Solima, expressed slogans like “Free Palestine” while attacking with makeshift flamethrowers.

Elias Rodriguez, just two weeks prior, reportedly shouted “Free, free Palestine” following the brutal killing of two Israeli embassy staff in Washington, D.C.

According to the prosecutor, Cody Ballmer made comments regarding “Palestinian people,” showing concern about an arson incident at the home of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro back in April.

Repeatedly, the narrative suggesting that Israeli military actions in Gaza are to blame for violence against American Jews has been perpetuated.

This seems to resonate with the protesters on college campuses as well as the democratic socialist “anti-Zionists,” who arguably should not be dismissed entirely.

The presence of this animosity is pervasive across various institutions—from Congress to parts of Columbia University’s faculty to Arthur Ceriotes, a notable labor leader with a position at CUNY.

Ceriotes has been involved in establishing the “labor justice” program at CUNY’s Labor and Urban Studies School but resigned from his advisory role on Monday following backlash.

Despite the surrounding issues of anti-Semitism, CUNY’s leader, Felix Matos-Rodriguez, continues in his role, showing resilience in the face of these challenges.

In addition, Zoran Mamdani, a favored candidate among democratic socialists, is gaining traction in the Democratic mayoral primary.

It’s high time for a significant and rational majority to stand against this anti-Semitism and all those who enable it. Until then, we may continue to witness such troubling acts of fear.
