The New York Post Media Group introduced Hamilton on Tuesday, a free AI tool designed for its app that lets users interact with the Post similarly to how they chat with friends.
Utilizing Google’s Gemini technology, Hamilton offers a fresh approach to news, aligning with the publication’s upcoming 225th anniversary this fall. Featured in both the New York Post and California Post apps, this tool merges conversational search with personalized news digests, customized recommendations, and smart notifications, creating a cohesive reader experience.
Hamilton reinvents how users encounter news in the Post app. It includes AI-driven search capabilities, notifications, article summaries, and tailored recommendations.
Named after Alexander Hamilton, who established the New York Post back in 1801, this tool embodies the publication’s commitment to helping readers engage with journalism.
“For close to 225 years, the Post has adapted to changing news consumption habits, from print to smartphones, and now to AI,” remarked Sean Giancola, CEO of New York Post Media Group. “Hamilton is the next step in that evolution, offering a more conversational and personalized method for readers to discover and engage with our content. It essentially places a custom newsroom in your pocket, making it easier to access stories that matter to you and dive deeper into topics you follow.”
The app features an AI-enabled search experience, allowing readers to interact with articles like having a conversation. They can inquire, follow developing stories, and get instant responses from sources across The Post’s newsroom.
Along with this, Hamilton brings Post Express, which curates personalized news briefings throughout the day based on user interests. It adapts over time, learning from reader behaviors to highlight the most relevant stories and discussions.
Furthermore, a section called Post Voices showcases memorable quotes from favored columnists and contributors, allowing users to swipe through highlighted opinions. As Hamilton gains momentum—after California Post’s successful launch in 2026—each app user has a unique experience.
“Readers are seeking relevance, not just noise, and the Post excels when it meets them at their level,” said Keith Poole, editor-in-chief of the New York Post Media Group. “Today, we need to create ways for viewers to engage with journalism in innovative manners. Hamilton allows for exploration through conversation, making news navigation smarter while maintaining our high standards of reporting and the unique Post voice.”
The Post Express picks out and summarizes critical stories at various points throughout the day, ensuring users stay updated on topics they’re passionate about.
“Hamilton represents a fresh vision for modern news experiences,” commented Alisiel Novicio, Chief Technology Officer at New York Post Media Group. “Collaborating with Google Cloud and harnessing the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, we’ve built a system that understands reader preferences, personalizes in real time, and makes discovering journalism more intuitive. Our focus wasn’t merely to implement AI but to enhance The Post’s relevance and engagement for every reader.”
With its secure infrastructure, Hamilton supports a continuous newsroom, operating 24/7 throughout the year. Michael Clark, president of Google Cloud North America, stated that the New York Post Media Group is pioneering a new model for global publishing, demonstrating how news organizations can utilize AI for deeply personalized, privacy-focused experiences.
To download Hamilton, users can search for the New York Post or California Post in their app stores. After installation, signing up is quick, requiring just an email address to access the latest news. By tapping the “Hamilton” icon in the app, users can easily activate the personalized features, leading them to explore stories tailored to their interests.
