Hamptons deli charging $120/lb. for lobster salad

Want to eat lobster salad while out and about in the Hamptons?

It’s a bisque-ish suggestion.

Of course, lobster salad is a summer staple in countries where money is no object.

But at a popular East Hampton delicatessen Red Horse Marketthis delicacy sells for $120 per pound.

Manager Christian Pineda told the Post that he had only received complaints about the lobster salad “from a few customers.”

But most patrons are willing to pay top dollar.

“We can offer these prices because of the quality,” Pineda explains. “Our customers value quality first. They want local quality, especially when it comes to meat and seafood.”

The gourmet market was opened in the early 1990s by former advertising executive Jerry Della Femina and the late David Silver, founder and CEO of Regency Home Fashions.

The Montauk Highway store has changed hands several times over the years.

It was closed for more than two years in the early 2000s.

Pineda noted that the market also offers a lobster bargain: a lobster roll for $28.

Typically, it takes 2 pounds of lobster to make 1 pound of lobster salad.

But the $120 price tag has infuriated some locals on social media.

“Even Jerry Seinfeld wouldn’t pay that much for a lobster salad in the Hamptons,” one commenter said.

“I think that’s fine,” said another local. “They’re separating the money from the fools.”

The price listed for the lobster salad was removed on Friday after one employee said, “We don’t want customers to die when they see the price.”
