‘Hand of God was over Tampa’: The story of Lieutenant Dan

Joe Malinowski, the Florida man known as “Lieutenant Dan,” decided to ride out Hurricane Milton on his 7.5-meter yacht even though all Tampa residents had been warned to evacuate. It became an overnight social media sensation.

Despite the mayor's threat to arrest Mr. Malinowski, he rode out the storm by boat, just as he did during Hurricane Helen. And now he has become a symbol of rebellion.

“We made multiple attempts to get that person off that ship, but the officers would eventually take him into custody, and for his own benefit, because he had more than eight “Because you can't survive on a sailboat in the bay with people up to 12-foot storm surge,” the mayor said.

The mayor also said in a previous interview that he would die if he stayed, but that was not the case.

Despite the threat, the man remained defiant, rolling his eyes as he told the camera: “The safest place to be on a boat is during a flood.” “We learned that with Noah. All who remained on land drowned. Noah and the animals are alive,” he added.

Malinowski, who is missing his lower left leg, livestreamed his experience and insisted he had no problems during the storm. As the sun rose over Tampa, he celebrated his survival and said, “The hand of God was upon Tampa.”

Pat Gray in Pat Gray Unleashed never took issue with Lt. Dan's refusal to leave.

“It's his choice. He's an adult. He's an American,” Gray says.
