‘Handbag Thief’ Killed ‘Woman in Her 60s’ in London Stabbing: Claim

A handbag snatcher allegedly stabbed a woman in her 60s when she resisted in north London, causing her to die from her injuries.

The Metropolitan Police announced on Thursday that an arrest had been made following the shocking murder of an unidentified woman, said to be in her 60s, in Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware.

witness Quoted by times Newspapers reported that a robber was seen trying to steal the handbag of a woman who was waiting to board a bus. The woman is said to have tried to stop the knifeman from taking her belongings.

The paper quotes salon worker Jess Bloom, who claims to have witnessed the bag thief stab the victim three times. She said: “It happened at a bus stop and the woman ended up in the middle of the bus stop.” On the road…the man tried to get her handbag, but she fought back by saying “no”. She saw her pull her handbag twice. He dragged her onto her road and stabbed her three times.

“When he let her go, she fell to the ground. She was covered in blood and his hands were bright red. He ran away and everyone ran to help the woman. Screams were heard.”

The ambulance service said paramedics arrived at the scene within two minutes of the attack, adding: “Paramedics, paramedics in rapid response vehicles, incident response officers and members of our tactical response unit… from London’s Air Ambulance. Police say they have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman in Edgware.
