Hanna Cavinder announces return to Miami basketball: ‘Itching to get back’

Hannah Cavinder announced her return to Miami Hurricanes basketball on Wednesday after taking a season off to watch her twin sister sign with TCU late last year.

Cavinder posted a video from his time with the Hurricanes to X. “She was itching to get back on the basketball court,” she wrote.

“My last season of basketball was one of the most successful and challenging years of my life, but it allowed me to grow tremendously,” she wrote. “For the past few months, I have been itching to get back into the game I thought I had lost my passion for.

“That being said, I’ll be back for another szn.”

The Cavinder twins announced they will step away from basketball after Miami advances to the Elite Eight in 2023. Meanwhile, Haley Cavinder will transfer to TCU and play for the Horned Frogs starting in the 2024-25 season.

Hannah Cavinder’s return to the Hurricanes comes after longtime head coach Katie Meyer will retire after the 2023-24 season. Miami replaced her with former Toledo head coach Tricia Cullop.

Hannah and Haley Cabinder transferred to Miami from Fresno State. Hanna averaged 3.8 points per game in 16.7 minutes.
