Missing Hannah Kobayashi's ex-boyfriend was “jealous” of her alleged fake husband, a source close to her told The Post.
Kobayashi was traveling to New York with her ex-girlfriend, Amun Muniz-Miranda, and Alan Cacace, an Argentinian she was secretly married to, sources confirmed to the Post.
However, the FBI is currently investigating the case as a possible failure of the green card visa plan because Kobayashi did not tell his family that he was married. She then claimed she was “tricked into giving away almost all of my funds” and then disappeared to Mexico by “someone I thought I loved.”
A source who worked with Kobayashi on Hawaiian haiku told the Post:
“perhaps [Muniz-Miranda] I was jealous of Hannah and Alan. ”
Another close friend of Hanna also confirmed to the paper that she had married Kakase, but said she did not feel they were in a romantic relationship.
Los Angeles magazine reported Kobayashi's mother discovered that Kobayashi had been in contact with an immigration attorney after he disappeared and filed documents with police and the FBI. The magazine also reported that Muñiz-Miranda was suspected of being involved in setting up the marriage plan.
Marriage fraud is a federal crime punishable by up to five years in prison.
Little is known about Muniz Miranda other than that he was arrested in Texas in 2021 by lying to police about his identity. He had been arrested in Haiku for drunk driving in 2020.
The newspaper may publish a photo of him taken in 2021, and those close to Kobayashi said they had long had doubts about his actions.

Sarah Azari, a lawyer representing the Kobayashi family, said there was no concrete evidence that she was married to Cacace.
“We have no legal or factual support. There is no proof. She never told her family that she was married,” Azari told the Post.
However, Kobayashi stepped off the plane himself and, in a distraught state, sent a concerned email to his family, urging them to raise the alarm.
On November 12, Kobayashi bought a ticket at a bus stop in Los Angeles and headed to the Mexican border.
She entered Tijuana through the San Ysidro entrance tunnel around noon and has not been seen or heard from since.
She was considered a voluntarily disappeared person after footage surfaced of her entering Mexico alone on December 2, authorities said.
Sources told the Post that it was unlike Hannah to miss work or disappear.
“That doesn’t sound very Hannah-like.” [to be involved in a green card scam] That's very out of character for her. She let me know in advance if she was going to be 10 to 15 minutes late for work. She was scheduled to return on November 20,” the source added.
In May 2021, Muniz Miranda was arrested in Waxahachie, Texas, for providing a false name to a police officer, providing false information and failing to identify himself, a misdemeanor charge punishable by up to nearly six months in prison. It's a sin.
An Ellis County, Texas, court clerk told the Post that Muniz Miranda's false identity case is still ongoing and that he did not appear for his 2021 arraignment.
Sources in Hawaii also confirmed to the newspaper that Haiku has a sizable Argentine community and that Cacace is believed to have been on the island for several years.
There are rumors that he already has a new girlfriend.
It is unclear whether authorities were able to locate or speak to Kakace. Previous reports said Muniz Miranda was cooperating with authorities. The Post has not been able to contact either person.
Kobayashi was excited about her trip to New York and had a “normal week” at work before leaving for New York, where she was scheduled to visit her aunt, a source told the Post.
“Something must have happened on the plane. That's not like Hannah at all. She plans everything,” said a colleague.
“Hannah is the last person who expected something like this to happen. She has her head firmly on her shoulders.
The search for Kobayashi is putting a strain on his family. Last week, Kobayashi's sister, Sidney, slammed her aunt, Larry Pidgeon, who was her point of contact for updates on the search for Hannah, saying Pidgeon did not represent her family.
“It's really unfortunate that we have to ask questions of the family,” Sidoni told News Nation, adding that her aunt had “turned into a mobster.”
Pidgeon later told the Post that Sydni was “throwing her under the bus.”
The tension comes after Kobayashi's father committed suicide by jumping from a parking lot at Los Angeles International Airport after arriving in Los Angeles to look for his daughter.
