Hannah Waddingham Reflects on Upcoming Season of Ted Lasso

Hannah Waddingham is eager for another season of Ted Lasso. As a fan of the show on Apple TV, she’s shared thoughts on what’s in store for the much-anticipated season 4.

During her appearance on The View last Friday, she expressed excitement upon hearing the news about the show’s return. Waddingham felt that the success of season 4 was apparent and that the finale of season 3 left everything in a way that felt just right to her.

“I thought, ‘Well, what can we do?’ The last thing we see is Keeley (Juno Temple) handing Rebecca the words ‘women’s team,’” she explained. “I thought, come on, guys. When are we actually going to do this? It’s time to come back.”

In an announcement from Apple in January, it was revealed that in season 4, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) will be returning to Richmond, facing his “biggest challenge yet: coaching a Division II women’s soccer team.”

The synopsis further states, “Throughout the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they see it, seizing opportunities they never expected.”

Waddingham mentioned that the cast has stayed connected since wrapping the previous season. She noted that they’ve “never missed each other.” For Waddingham, slipping back into the role of Rebecca Welton was “fantastic,” and she was excited to don the pencil skirt again. She also sang praises for the talented female soccer players featured in the new season.

“And honestly, everyone, stay tuned. The women they cast are just amazing. They’re incredible. I can’t wait for you to fall in love with them,” she said enthusiastically.

Alyssa Farrah Griffin shifted the conversation to the possibility of romance in Rebecca’s storyline this season. “And we’re looking forward to Rebecca’s love story,” she chimed in, hinting at the audience’s curiosity. “I know you can’t tell us anything, but…we’ve been waiting!”

Waddingham teased a bit, appearing coy as she took a sip from her mug. “It’s not that he’s unattractive,” she joked. “You have to stay professional, Hannah!”

Season 4 of Ted Lasso is set to premiere on Wednesday, August 5th. The View airs on ABC weekdays at 11/10 pm.
