Threats Against Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon
Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon has raised concerns about threats directed at her, warning that such issues are being handled by the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. On Sunday night, she expressed her discontent via social media, condemning individuals associated with California Governor Gavin Newsom. “We will not tolerate such threats from awakened idiots,” she noted in her post, adding, “Rank yourself accordingly.”
In a subsequent conversation with Fox News Digital, Dhillon mentioned that Justice Department staff alerted her to alarming comments made by individuals who seemed to be from Newsom’s team. These comments appeared to link her with an incident involving a fire at the residence of a South Carolina judge.
In another layer to this story, one of the posts from an X account—which has since been removed—ominously suggested it wouldn’t be hard to locate Dhillon’s address. A screenshot indicated a vague response regarding upcoming revelations related to Dhillon.
The situation appears connected to statements made by Newsom’s Communications Director, Izzy Gardon, who pointed out that one of Trump’s key DOJ officials had “publicly targeted” the judge before a fire occurred at her home. The judge, Diane Schafer Goodstein, confirmed that her house burned down over the weekend.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and while they haven’t determined the cause, three people were reported injured. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Department is heading up the investigation.
Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut took to social media to voice his support for Gardon, highlighting a prior post where Dillon seemed to argue against state judges changing federal voting laws. Dhillon criticized Gardon and Murphy, calling their actions “awful” and perhaps even dangerous for her safety, hinting at the toxic political atmosphere.
In a rebuttal, Gardon responded to Dhillon, stating their office had not issued threats, contrasting her claims with what they described as the harmful rhetoric emerging from Trump’s administration. This back-and-forth illustrates the rising stakes and tensions in political discourse, especially regarding the judiciary.
