Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost her presidential bid, and outgoing President Joe Biden are prepared to call President-elect Donald Trump directly on Wednesday to concede defeat.
NBC News report Harris is expected to give a public address at an unspecified time, citing two of her aides, and one person said her speech would be scheduled for 6pm (4am IST). It will be around 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, the 60-year-old is preparing for a speech, one of her aides said.
As Breitbart News reported, Harris chose not to speak to supporters gathered at a watch party at Howard University on Tuesday night as further results confirmed Trump's surprise victory.
Instead she went home.
Cedric Richmond, co-chair of the Harris campaign, acknowledged Harris' absence as his supporters rushed out.
The NBC News report goes on to say that Biden also plans to call Trump today and speak publicly about the election results, according to White House officials.
The timing of the call and Biden's remarks remains unclear.
