The International Brotherhood of Trucking announced that the Harris campaign had accepted an invitation to participate in a roundtable discussion with members of one of the nation’s largest labor unions.
“We look forward to Vice President Harris joining the Teamsters rank-and-file membership in a roundtable discussion to discuss issues important to workers,” Teamsters Deputy Director of Communications Kara Dennis told The Hill.
While Harris’ campaign has received support from a number of prominent labor unions, including the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the American Federation of Labor (AFL-CIO), it is worth noting that the Teamsters have not endorsed a presidential candidate in the upcoming election.
Former President Trump appeared at a roundtable hosted by the Teamsters on Jan. 31, and Teamsters Chairman Sean O’Brien called the former president a “tough son of a bitch” in a speech at the Republican National Committee in Milwaukee last month.
O’Brien has also requested to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week, but has not yet been invited.
The Hill has reached out to Harris’ campaign for comment.
