Vice President Harris' campaign raised $361 million in August and said Friday it has $404 million in cash in the final two months before Election Day.
According to Harris' campaign, her campaign has raised more than $615 million since she launched her campaign in July after President Biden dropped out of the race.
The campaign touted its August fundraising total as nearly three times what former President Trump raised. The Trump campaign said Wednesday that it raised $130 million in August, most of it from donations of less than $200. The Trump campaign has $295 million in cash on hand.
The Harris campaign said August was the biggest grassroots fundraising month in the history of a presidential election, with nearly 3 million donors in the month and 1.3 million donating for the first time this election cycle, and that three-quarters of first-time donors had not donated in the previous presidential election.
Additionally, the campaign said 95% of donations in August were under $200, with teachers and nurses being the most common donor occupations. More than 60% of donors in August were women, and nearly one-fifth of donors were registered Republicans or independents, according to the campaign.
“As we enter the final stages of the election, we are committed to putting every bit of our hard-earned money towards winning over voters who will decide our election,” campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement. “Make no mistake: this election will be tough and difficult to win, but with the organic support we are seeing, undeniable, we are doing everything we can to rally together a coalition to defeat Donald Trump for good.”
The Harris campaign raised $310 million in July, bringing its campaign total to $377 million at that point. The July total included money raised by Biden during his campaign before he hands the baton to Harris.
Jen O'Malley Dillon, Harris' campaign chair, said in a memo earlier this month that Vice President Harris has raised more than $540 million since entering the race on July 21, a historic amount for a candidate at that time.
The Harris campaign announced Tuesday that it would send about $25 million to Democratic committees to invest in lower-tier candidates to secure majorities in Congress.
