The shocking decision escalated the scandal from denial to damage control for a frayed election campaign.
Breitbart’s Christina Wong reports:[Walz] He claims to be a retired Master Sergeant, but was demoted to Sergeant Major because he did not meet the requirements to be retired as a Master Sergeant. Nevertheless, he has bragged on multiple occasions about being retired as a Master Sergeant.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dodged questions Wednesday when asked about the scandal.
“He’s a guy who enlisted at 17 to serve his country. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 24 years. He’s a high school teacher, a high school coach, he’s a guy who grew up in a small town in the Midwest. So his background speaks for itself, the kind of person he is, his record speaks for itself. I’m not going to say anything more than that,” she said.
