Vice President Harris condemned the recent assassination attempt on former President Trump at a campaign event on Wednesday.

Trump was grazed by a bullet in his ear during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. He recently wore a bandage over the ear where the bullet had grazed him.

“At the end of the day, just because you hold public office doesn’t mean you should have to fear for the safety of your loved ones,” Harris said at a campaign event.

“Our hearts go out to the family of Corey Comperatore, a true hero who lost his life protecting his family,” Harris said, referring to the man killed in the shooting at Saturday’s rally. “Obviously, Doug and I hold them in our hearts, and we are praying for a speedy and full recovery for those seriously injured that day.”

In a statement on the day of the shooting, Harris said she and her husband were relieved that Trump “was not seriously injured.”

“We are praying for him, his family and all those injured and affected by this senseless shooting,” she continued.
