Harris criticizes ‘appalling’ video shared by Trump referencing ‘unified Reich’

Vice President Harris on Tuesday criticized former President Donald Trump after he shared a video on social media in which he referred to a “united empire.”

During remarks at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the vice president claimed the video shows what is at stake in the November election.

“It’s not surprising and frightening that this kind of rhetoric would come from a former president,” she said. “And we have to tell him who we are. And once again, our freedom and democracy itself is at stake.”

President Trump posted a video on his Truth Social page Monday night featuring hypothetical headlines about a possible November victory, including one that referenced a “united empire.” It was included. The video was not created by the Trump campaign and was removed on Tuesday morning.

The White House earlier Tuesday condemned President Trump’s sharing of the video, calling it “dangerous and offensive.”

President Biden was asked about the video during a visit to New Hampshire on Tuesday, but his response from reporters accompanying him was unclear.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters she would hear directly from Biden at some point Tuesday. The president will hold two campaign receptions in Boston in the evening.

Additionally, the Biden campaign responded to the video by saying that Trump “tells America exactly what he intends to do when he regains power: He intends to rule a ‘united empire’ as a dictator.” insisted.
