During Wednesday's broadcast of MSNBC's “Deadline: White House,” MSNBC host and NBC senior business analyst Stephanie Ruhle spoke about her interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, a 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, and said Harris “didn't want to dig too deep into what they're going to do, what her plan is on tariffs.”
“It's a tough one because Trump's plan would be economically disastrous, but President Biden already has some plans in place, and he may be looking to do more,” Ruhle said. “But what Kamala Harris is really talking about is the idea of tariffs, and when Trump stands at the podium and talks about it, he talks about bringing back American jobs and manufacturing, but you have to be realistic. Because tariffs are only going to hurt the country. While he's telling that to his audience, that same audience has an Amazon delivery box outside their door. We're used to that way of life. But they're bringing back manufacturing. So she didn't want to go into too much detail about what they're going to do or what her plan is on tariffs, but they have serious plans on manufacturing. If you think about the big economic bills that have been passed over the last four years, we've actually seen billions of dollars put into them and thousands of jobs created.” [many] “One of them is in Republican states and counties, and it's bringing back manufacturing jobs. Now it's not just old manufacturing jobs, it's new manufacturing jobs.”
Ruhle added: “[I]Overall, she has laid out a detailed economic plan.”
