Harris engages party supporters to promote her '107 Days' memoir before the 2028 election

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is set to release her book titled *107 Days*, and it’s getting significant promotional support through fundraisers affiliated with the Democratic Party. The Harris Victory Fund, which represents both the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and her 2024 presidential campaign, reportedly used its resources to distribute a marketing email for the book without soliciting donations to the DNC.

This situation has raised eyebrows regarding the DNC’s impartiality during the primary elections, especially since Harris might be a contender in the 2028 presidential race, following President Trump’s term limit. With an upcoming primary election, parties are gearing up for discussions on their future candidates.

Mark Halperin mentioned that the Biden team seems prepared to counter any negative narratives Harris might launch against him.

According to reports, the DNC hasn’t sent out any promotional emails, although they can utilize their mailing list for book marketing as long as it’s compensated appropriately. A representative from the DNC confirmed that they did not send such emails.

Harris’s communications director, Kirsten Allen, emphasized to Axios that the mailing list usage complies with Federal Election Commission regulations. Still, this move indicates a strategy by Harris to tap into the Democratic base to promote her memoir just as her campaign gains momentum, particularly as she announces her candidacy after Biden’s withdrawal from the race in early 2024.

“It was intense and very personal for me and many of you. Since taking office, I’ve reflected on that time,” Harris mentioned in a video promoting her book on July 31. She expressed a belief in the importance of sharing her experiences, as sometimes it takes time to advocate for change.

It’s a common trend for politicians to publish books after significant campaigns. For example, Hillary Clinton’s *What Happened* was released following her 2016 defeat.

Recently, Harris declared that she would not pursue the governorship of California in 2026, which raises speculation about her ambitions for the presidency in 2028. She desperately sought the Democratic nomination in 2020, but that effort ended in December 2019.

“Right now, my contributions and service lie beyond a specific office. I’m eager to engage with the American public,” she said.

A California donor expressed skepticism regarding enthusiasm for a prospective governor run by Harris, implying that it might not generate much excitement.

Meanwhile, the landscape for the Democratic presidential nomination is shaping up, with potential candidates including California Governor Gavin Newsom and others like Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. On the Republican front, Trump hinted that Vice President J.D. Vance could emerge as a leading candidate.

In another remark, Trump discussed the strengths of his potential group of candidates. Fox News Digital reached out to both the DNC and Allen for further comment.
