A new poll finds that voters are more likely to describe Vice President Harris as honest and disciplined than former President Trump.
According to a survey by the Associated Press/NORC Research Center: Released on WednesdayThe poll found that nearly half of Americans rate Harris as “committed to democracy” and “disciplined,” compared with about 30 percent who rate Trump, and 40 percent also rate her as “honest,” compared with just under 25 percent who rate the former president.
The poll also found that roughly four in 10 respondents said Harris “cares about people like you,” compared with roughly three in 10 who said the same for Trump.
The results come as Ms Harris leads Mr Trump in the polls and rides the momentum of a presidential campaign start that has breathed life into Democrats’ hopes in November. Both Ms Harris and Mr Trump’s camps have been battling over how to characterize the vice president, with the former president’s camp portraying her as incompetent and untrustworthy.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign has cast the former president as a strong leader, but the poll shows that hasn’t done him any favors: About four in 10 respondents see the Republican candidate as a strong leader who could handle a crisis, roughly the same percentage as Harris.
The poll found that Trump leads in discussions of the economy and immigration, while Harris has the edge on health care, abortion policy and race relations.
Democrats are significantly more enthusiastic about voting for Harris than for President Biden, signaling a complete reset in the race since Harris dropped out of the race late last month. Nearly two-thirds of Democrats said they are very or extremely “excited” to vote in the November election. Improvement In March, it exceeded 40 percent.
Harris leads Trump by 1.4 percentage points in The Hill/Decision Desk average of national polls, nearly erasing the former president’s lead over Biden in key battleground states.
