Kamala Harris Hints at 2028 Presidential Run

In a recent chat with podcaster and author Sharon McMahon, former Vice President Kamala Harris expressed that she “may” consider running for president again in 2028.

During the interview, which took place in February 2026, Harris alluded for the first time that she might seek to regain Democratic support for the upcoming presidential election. When directly asked about her chances of becoming the first female president, she replied, “That’s a possibility.”

“I’m not done yet,” she stated, emphasizing her commitment to a life of service. “It’s in my bones.”

A clip from her Zoom interview went viral after McMahon posed the question, “Are you running again?”. Harris’s response, “I haven’t decided yet,” was quickly followed by her cautious “Maybe.”

Speculation grew about her potential candidacy after she reactivated her Kamala HQ social media accounts. Earlier this month, she announced Headquarters, a new initiative targeted at Gen Z, intended to win back young and floating voters for her party ahead of the 2024 elections.

During their conversation, McMahon suggested that Harris’s memoir, titled 107 Days, hinted at her desire to return to office. However, Harris clarified that the book was intended to reflect on a specific period, saying, “There was no agenda beyond what we had already discussed, just to share the reality of the experience with people and hopefully make them see something about themselves.”

While she hasn’t dismissed the idea of a future presidential run, Harris has confirmed that she will not pursue a gubernatorial position in California’s competitive race for Governor Gavin Newsom’s seat.
