Vice President Harris has a narrow lead over former President Trump. new national survey From The Economist and YouGov.
The poll, conducted over the past four days, shows Harris leading Trump among registered voters with an approval rating of 48% to his 46%. Harris leads Trump among likely voters, with an approval rating of 49% to Trump's 46%.
No other candidate in either group received more than 1% support. In both groups, 3% of respondents said they were unsure how they would vote.
Among registered voters, Ms. Harris topped the list among ideologically “moderate” voters, with 55% approval rating for Mr. Trump and 35% for Mr. Trump. But Party ID shows her lead narrows among self-described “independent” voters, with her approval rating at 45% to Trump's 39%.
With the election less than two weeks away, the pool of voters that either side can persuade is getting narrower, especially since early voting and mail-in voting have already begun in many states.
Among registered voters who said they planned to vote for Harris, 2% said they might change their minds between now and the election. The same goes for 3% of registered voters who say they plan to vote for Trump.
As for whether registered voters would consider voting for Trump, 50% said they would consider it, and 50% said they would not.
Harris has a slight advantage on this question, with 53% of registered voters saying they would consider voting for her and 47% saying they would not vote for her.
The latest poll is somewhat in line with average national polls by Decision Desk Headquarters/The Hill, with Harris leading Trump by 0.9 points, with an approval rating of 48.7% and Trump's 47.8. %.
With voting preferences set in much of the country, the final contest will come down to a handful of battleground states where both candidates still have electoral votes.
The survey was conducted between October 19-22, 2024 among 1,422 registered voters. The margin of error is 3.2 percentage points.
