On CNN’s “AC360” broadcast on Monday, CNN senior political commentator Van Jones argued that Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, is currently the hottest topic and doesn’t need to talk to reporters right now: “If it ain’t broke, why fix it? She has her convention coming up. Her approval rating will go up another point or two. And then she’ll be able to talk to reporters.”
Jones began by saying that former 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump “isn’t getting as much attention as Kamala Harris.”
He added that Ms Harris was “doing exactly what needed to be done” and that she was “going to talk to reporters” going forward, which is what she would do if she were Ms Harris.
After citing Ms. Harris’s interview with CNN shortly after the June presidential debate, he added: “I’m not worried about her talking to reporters. But if it’s not a problem now, why fix it? She has the convention coming up. She’ll be up another point or two in the polls. Then she’ll be able to talk to reporters. But we’re watching a political master class from the most underrated politician in America. Meanwhile, this juggernaut is crumbling.”
