Harris leading Trump by 3 points in battleground Pennsylvania survey

A new poll shows Vice President Harris leading President Trump by three points in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

The study released Monday USA Today/Suffolk UniversityAccording to the poll, Harris has the support of 49 percent of voters in the Keystone State, compared with the former president's 46 percent, but the Democratic candidate's advantage is within the poll's margin of error.

Ms Harris also led by five points among independents, with 43% approving of her and Mr Trump's 38%, according to the poll, which came out a week after the party debate moderated by ABC News in Philadelphia.

Trump held a double-digit lead among male voters, garnering 53% support to Harris' 41%, but Trump boasts a 17-point lead among the state's female voters, topping the former president with 39% to Harris' 56%, the poll found.

Harris maintained high favorability ratings in battleground states that hold the 19 electoral votes. About 49% of respondents said they had a favorable view of Harris, while 47% said they had an unfavorable view of the vice president. About 45% had a favorable view of Trump, while 54% had an unfavorable view.

The statewide survey was conducted among 500 statewide voters between September 11 and 15, and has a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.

The Democratic candidate also has slight leads in two key counties in Pennsylvania. Another line of investigation A post-debate USA Today/Suffolk poll showed Harris receiving 50 percent of the vote in Northampton County to Trump's 45 percent, again within the margin of error.

President Biden won the county by just 1 percentage point in 2020. That narrow lead came after Trump captured Northampton's support in 2016 when he ran against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Harris also holds a 4-point advantage in Erie County, where she has 48% support, well above the former president's 44%. Like Northampton County, Biden won the county in 2020 after Trump defeated Clinton by 2% in 2016.

The polls for both counties were conducted among 300 voters a few days after the debate and had a margin of error of 5.7 percentage points.

The Hill/Decision Desk Polling Index has Harris leading Trump by less than one percentage point, 48.1 percent to 47.7 percent.
